Plane Travel Etiquette

Headed on a family vacation via airplane this summer? Check out these simple do's and don'ts for your best flight ever!

Air travel etiquette dictates that the person in the middle seat gets both armrests. It's his or her reward for being sandwiched in the middle.

Let your seatmates know when you need to get up. Even if they are sleeping, gently wake them up to let them know you will be leaving the row for a short amount of time. Give your fellow travelers a chance to stand up to let you out.

If you bring a carry on that does not fit under the seat in front of you, make sure to stow it in the over head bins. If there is no space in the bin above your seat, the etiquette here is to look in front of you, not behind. Ask a flight attendant if you're still having trouble finding a spot. They can help you located a good place without disturbing others.

Go slow when reclining your seat. You don't know how long the legs of the person behind you are! Always return your seat to an upright position during meal and snack times, and never recline so far that you hit someone's knees!

Summer Trend: Modern Tie-Dye

Tie-dye is making a major comeback for Summer '19! Once a staple of peace-loving children of the 1960s and California surfers of the '70s, tie-dye's twenty nineteen revival makes it a much easier to achieve a more put-together look that's appropriate for everyone.

The best way to ease tie-dye into your summer wardrobe is with accessories! Add a pop of tie-dye to any outfit with a tie-dye clutch, tote, or shoes!

Tie-dye can be worked in to wedding guest attire, day wear, or casual evening wear. Choose feminine touches such a chiffon, pleats, and fabrics that flow!

The best way to add tie-dye in to your casual every day where is to choose a more muted palette. Try a pastel tie-dye instead of neon.

And last, but not least, the easiest way to wear tie-dye this summer is with a tie-dye bathing suit!

Hope you have a groovy summer!

Recent Beauty Buys

I.LOVE.PRODUCTS.

//1// I've been on a quest to find a noncomedogenic foundation. I wanted to decrease my spending on makeup so I went with Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation first. This was a nice foundation, but didn't give me enough coverage.

//2// I recently added PanOxyl Wash into my acne regimen. I already use two different prescription creams and moisturize with Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream. I feel like I've really hit a sweet spot in my treatment with the addition of PanOxyl. For a 4% benzyl peroxide product it's nice and creamy and doesn't dry out my face.

//3// I bought Biotera Ultra Moisturizing Replenishing Condition after reading that the brand was a comparable, but a cheaper version of Biolage. I have bleached, fine, tangley hair and need a thick, creamy conditioner. This was not it. It's very thin and runny and I have to use copious amounts to feel like it's moisturizing my hair.

//4// We carry Jane Iredale makeup products where I work, but have always been hesitant to purchase because of the price. However, still on my quest for the perfect foundation, I ended up getting Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream. I really like it. It is a full coverage like I wanted and has a citrus scent to it.

//5// After the Biotera conditioner failure I tried Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt + Repair. I'm sad to report this was another miss. I was expected it to be thick, and although it is creamier than the Biotera, it still wasn't enough for me.

//6// Whereas the Biotera conditioner was not for me I was really happy with Biotera Ultra Color Care Shampoo. I feel like I have to use a small amount compared to other shampoos for my long hair, it lathers well, and smells great!

//7// I like to use a hair oil after washing to add moisture and smooth it out. Hair Food Nourishing Coconut Hair Oil isn't really oil. It's a gel consistency and doesn't even compared to R+Co Tinsel or Moroccan Oil.

//8// I love my EcoTools Full Powder Brush! The bristles are super soft and I love that it blends my powder so nicely without much effort on my part.

//9// Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint Foundation was another one of my purchases on my quest to find the perfect noncomediogenic foundation. And it sucks. It oxidizes so bad. I looked so orange!

//10// EltaMD UV Clear is my favorite facial sunscreen! First, it's formulated for acne prone skin and second, it doesn't leave me feeling greasy. I hate being greasy from sunscreen especially on the face. I put this on every morning before any makeup!

Monday Madness 06.03.19

Hello, indeed! I hope everyone has been doing well over the last several weeks. I am beyond excited that it's June! May in Michigan was super rainy (I think it rained some 25 days out of 31) so I'm looking forward to some (possible) sunny days in June!

I'm looking forward to so many things in June. Nick's birthday, my sister's visit out, and hopefully some pool time! In sadder news, we lost my grandma yesterday morning. It was a long time coming. She had been battling dementia for nearly 2 years and had gone on hospice about 2 weeks ago. She was my last grandparent. When my parents first got divorced when I was 11 she would come stay with us for extended periods of time. I'll always be thankful for that and the help she gave my dad who got thrown in to single parenthood.

I had a great Memorial Day weekend. I ended up having 3.5 days off from work. The days were super unproductive and amazing! Nick scored some free tickets to the Indy 500 from a supplier/rep through work so we headed down to Indianapolis for the day (a 4 hour drive from where we live in Michigan). We took along my brother-in-law!

It was a great day with lots of sun and heat! But, after being home alone all day, Scout required some serious cuddles.

This one cracks me up... He's so desperate!

In other news, I've been reading a lot, trying to make more meals, and hoping to see Rocketman soon!

What have you been up to?
