Weekend Recap + Monday Madness Link Up 8.23.15

You guys, I had an awesome weekend. It's been over 2 years since Nick and I have "gone away" together. He's done some guy trips and I've vacationed with my sister and friends, and with work, school, and family obligations we let taking a trip together slip out of focus.

We headed to Northern Kentucky right after work on Friday to go to our friends Mark and Danica's. We made it in late after a 5 1/2 hour drive and got up early the next morning to make the short drive to Cincinnati to the Western and Southern Open.

So I'm obsessed with tennis. I have loved it since my family went to the US Open when I was 12 or 13. Also, in case you haven't read this blog before, I'm also a gigantic crush on Andy Murray.

We got the venue right as the gates opened so we had time to take in the grounds and catch some practice.

Mark, me, and Nick

Mark and Nick - best friends since middle school!

The great thing about practice is that you can go in any stadium and take any seat to watch. I ended up in the first row at Center Court to watch Andy practice!

Me and Andy.

Died and gone to heaven. Seriously.

We also got to see Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic practice. Novak is #1 in the world right now.

Novak and his team including his coach and tennis great Boris Becker.

The first semi final match we watched was Djokovic v. Dolgopolov.

The second semi match was Federer v. Murray which was awesome! Andy is such an athletic player and Roger has this ease and eloquence to his game.

After a long, hot day in the sun we headed to The Cheesecake Factory!

Sunday morning before heading back to Michigan we stopped at bakery in Kentucky and enjoyed our breakfast at a park with a great view of Cinci.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend too!

Refreshing Cucumber Spa Water (Detox Water Series)

Welcome back to the Detox Water Series! I will be in Cinci and sitting outside in the heat on Saturday for the Western and Southern men's semifinals. After a long day in the sun I turn to cucumber water for it's rehydrating and replenishing properties.

What You'll Need:
8 oz. water
Ice
5 slices of cucumber
What You'll Need to Do:
Choose your favorite mason jar or glass.
Mix all ingredients together in the glass.
Stir.
Drink three a day.
Enjoy!
Try the following ingredients to give your cucumber water a little more punch!
  • Mint: Mint is rich in vitamin C, calcium and magnesium and aids in digestion.
  • Herb Blend:  Rosemary& Thyme  are great source of iron, calcium, and potassium, and adds vitamin C.
  • Basil: Basil includes iron, calcium, manganese, magnesium, vitamin C and potassium. It also has antibacterial properties and contains DNA-protecting flavonoids.
  • Lime: The benefits of lime include weight loss, skin care, improved digestion, relief from constipation, and eye care.
  • Strawberries: Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium. Just one serving (about eight strawberries) provides more vitamin C than an orange.

If you can't get your hands of fresh ingredients, try peppermint, rosemary, thyme, basil, and lime essential oils. I use and sell Young Living Essential Oils.

Hi all! Happy Monday!

Congratulations to Jessica from Silex in the City! She won last week's Notebook and Nail Polish Giveaway!

I wish I had something good to tell you from my weekend. I did a lot of adult-ing - laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc. Nick and I did watch Star Wars Episodes I & II. Nick's totally into it and I wanted to watch it for Ewan McGregor. #HotScot
