A Royal Baby Boy!

It's a boy! Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed a baby boy, their first child, weighing 7 lbs 3 oz on Monday, May 6th at 5:26 am.

After family members were notified, the first official public announcement came via the couple's Instagram account @sussexroyal. Shortly thereafter new dad Prince Harry spoke to a single reporter outside at Windsor Castle regarding the birth. Harry confirmed that the baby was overdue and he was present at the birth, and reported that mom and baby were doing well. Harry said of the experience, "It's been amazing, so I just wanted to share this with everybody." It is said that Harry's televised update came nine hours after Baby Sussex's arrival.

Following the Duke's interview,  and following tradition, an official birth announcement was placed outside of Buckingham Palace. The announcement was available for the public to view for 24 hours. The Palace released an official statement saying, "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer were informed and delighted with the news of the birth."

It is still unclear and unconfirmed whether The Duchess had a home birth at Frogmore Cottage. Some media outlets are reporting that the couple were secretly taken to The Portland, a private hospital in London, for the birth and whisked back home with their new baby without being noticed. It is unknown if Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was present during the birth, but she has been a fixture at Frogmore Cottage and Windsor Castle, offering the new parents support and help.

Two days later, on Wednesday, May 8th, the new parents presented their newborn son to the world at Windsor Castle. The new family a three met with a small television crew for a very brief interview. The couple described their son as having a "sweet temperament" and being "really calm." The Duchess described becoming a parent and having a new baby as "magic" and stated, "I have the two best guys in the world, so I'm really happy." The couple thanked everyone for their well wishes and said they were looking forward to watching their little one grow.

Baby Sussex was presented to his great-grandparents, The Queen and Prince Phillip, immediately after the short press conference. Meghan's mother was also present for the historic meeting.

The baby's name was revealed approximately 2 hours after The Sussex's Windsor Castle interview. Baby Sussex is officially Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. It is said that the couple chose the names simply because they liked them. Archie will not have a royal title such as prince, earl, or lord or be known as 'His Royal Highness,' but is 7th in line to the throne. Mountbatten-Windsor is the legal last name on the Royal Family, but Archie Harrison may simply go by Archie Sussex.

Congratulations Harry and Meghan!

2019 Met Gala Fashion

Every first Monday in May the most high profile celebrities of the year gather for The Met Gala which takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Gala benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. This year's exhibit and theme is "Camp: Notes in Fashion." The Met Gala is where the weirder and wackier the fashion is, the more it's celebrated. Let's take a look at five of my favorites from the night...

Jourdan Dunn in Zac Posen

I have never seen anything like this before! Zac Posen teamed up with GE Additive and Protolabs to bring 3D printed works of fashion art to life. I love that she's a rose and the sheen and reflection off the dress is stunning. This color is stunning on her and I like that she kept her hair long and straight to really let the dress do the talking.

Constance Wu in Marchesa

I love the steely blue/gray and all the jewels and embellishments. The nod to the 1920s is my favorite part!

Danai Gurira in Gabriela Hearst

I love how this is masculine and feminine at the same time. The two-tiered train/cape, cane, hat, and that deep V. Damn. The fit is out of this world.

Henry Golding in Versace

A metallic, sparkly tux? Why the hell not? It's The Met Gala! I love shiny things and if any guy was going to pull it off it's Henry. He's been so hot this year. The suit is cut perfectly for him from cuff to hem.

Demi Moore in Yves Saint Laurent

I love that Demi kept it elegant and simple. It's the perfect combination of a tuxedo jacket with a column skirt that's styled to perfection. Love the diamond accessories!

There was so much weird sh*t, but it's the Met Gala. I thought Katy Perry's chandelier dress was really unique (and she looks great as a blonde!), was unimpressed by Gaga's theatrics, and was uninspired by Gemma Chan's Tom Ford dress. It was beautiful, but looked very similar to the Tom Ford dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 2012 Oscars. Jared Leto carrying a decapitated head of his own likeness just really creeped me out. It was so disgusting up and unnecessary.

Monday Madness 5.6.19

Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great week. We had really great weather this weekend. It only got up to about 69, but the sun was shining on Saturday and Sunday! It's supposed to rain again all this week so we tired to enjoy some time while it was nice.

We got Scout out for a short walk and he enjoyed the sun while we did some gardening. I can't believe he's going to be 10 in 10 days!

This pup sure loves his sun!

I got to wear flip flops for this first time this year! Time for some Baby Foot (and a pedicure)!

Check out my sweet little niece celebrating our last name and reppin' the blog! I was so excited when my sister-in-law sent me this picture!

My weekend also involved some Netflixing. I watched the documentary Knock Down the House which was basically about Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's political rise with a few other women candidates sprinkled in there. I don't necessarily agree with all of her politics, but what she accomplished is AMAZING and very inspiring.

I also watched Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. It's a bio pic about Ted Bundy played by Zac Efron. I thought Zac Efron was pretty good, but Lily Collins as Bundy's girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer was outstanding!

Just a mention about Fosse Verdon. I've been watching this mini series on FX about choreographer and director Bob Fosse and his wife (a famous dancer in her own right) Gwen Verdon. It's a must see for anyone who has been in the dance and/or theater world. Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams are phenomenal.

I spent the rest of the weekend meal prepping, folding laundry, and trying to relax. I'm hoping to have Cheesesteaks and Cajun Chicken Pasta this week!

So as of when I'm putting this post together (Sunday 5/5 at 6:45pm) there is still no royal baby. My guess is that Meghan is about a week overdue and if we don't see this baby by next weekend I'll be shocked.

The Perfect Sunglasses to Frame Your Face

Proper sunglasses offer protection against harmful UV rays which reduces damage to your vision, eliminate dangerous glare, give you better clarity for tasks such a driving, and are the cutest accessories for spring and summer! With so many great options, there's a perfect frame for every face!

If you have an oval shaped face try aviators. The curve of the aviator adds width to narrow faces. Proportion is key!

If your face is round go with wayfarers. The boxy shape gives the face more definition and the extended temples are perfect for broad cheek bones.

If you face is square rock an oversized pair. Curved frames give softness to an angular face.

If your face is heart-shaped go for a cat-eye frame. Rounded edges with wide bottoms highlight the best features of the heart-shaped face.
