 March 12

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took on their first joint in-person appearance of 2021. They visited School 21 in east London in support of Mentally Healthy Schools. The couple spent time with school children and teachers. When asked by a reporter in light of his brother and sister-in-law's Oprah interview which aired the day before, William answered that his family is "very much not racist."


March 13

Her Majesty took part in a virtual chat to mark British Science Week. The Queen was presented with a NASA Perseverance face mask as a get well gift for the Duke of Edinburgh who was still in the hospital in London recuperating from a heart procedure.



Later that evening, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge made an unannounced and unofficial visit to Clapham Common to lay flowers at a vigil in memory of Sara Everard. Kate was spotted by an ITV reporter as she made her way through the Common. 

March 14

The Royals celebrate Mothering Sunday (the UK's Mothers Day)!  The Cambridge children celebrated Catherine with a cake and continued the tradition of making cards for their grandmother, the late Princess Diana. 


Princess Eugenie celebrated her first Mother's Day by sharing a new photo of her newborn son, August, on Instagram


A spokesperson for the prince said Harry arranged to have flowers laid at his mother's grave on the ground of Althorp, the Spencer family home, and The Queen marked the day sharing a photo of her and her mother in 1940 on social media platforms. 

March 15

Pippa (Middleton) Matthews, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed her second child with husband James Matthews at 4:22 am. The couple named their daughter Grace Elizabeth Jane. Grace weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and joins big brother 2-year-old Arthur. 

March 16

Prince Philip is released from a London hospital after a four week stay and driven back to Windsor. It was reported that he walked from the hospital to his waiting car unaided.


On the same day as his father is released from the hospital, The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited a pop-up vaccination site at Finsbury Park Mosque. Their Royal Highnesses met with clinical and operation leads, vaccinators, administrators, and staff from the NHS and the Mosque.


On American morning television, Gayle King reported she has spoken to Meghan and Harry after their 'bombshell' interview. Per King, the Prince has spoke to his brother and father (Princes William and Charles). Harry had said the conversations were not productive. Per the couple, no one from Harry's family has spoken to Meghan.


March 17

The Earl of Wessex took one two virtual visits, one to Greater Manchester to hear about the impact of COVID-19 from representatives of the city's health, education, and homelessness services and the other in which he spoke to some of HRH's Armed Forces Reservist Regiments based both in the UK and Canada. 

His sister, The Princess Royal, had four virtual engagements with charities located throughout Cambridge.


The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wished everyone around the world a very happy St. Patrick's Day! The couple took part in a video compiled and shared by the Irish Foreign Ministry in honor of the holiday.


March 18

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Newham Ambulance Station in East London to meet and speak with staff and paramedics about their experiences of working during the pandemic. 


The Duchess re-wore a Massimo Dutti coat paired monochromatically with the Sophie Knitted Rollneck Top by Reiss, and the Mini Roma bag by Metier London.


March 19

The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited the NHS Seacole Centre is Surrey. The center is being used as a temporary community hospital in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their Royal Highnesses thanked staff and volunteers for their hard work on the frontline and for their service during the pandemic.


The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall shared a joint virtual engagement to thank The Royal Volunteer Service for their hard work one year on since the launch of the NHS Volunteer Responders Scheme.


March 20

The Prince of Wales and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall release a new photo on their social media accounts to celebrate the first day of Spring!


March 21


Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne and granddaughter of the Queen, and husband Mike welcomed their third child. The baby boy was born on the bathroom floor of their home in Gloucestershire after labor set in very quickly. The couple chose the name Lucas Philip for their first son who weighed 8 lbs 4 oz at birth. Lucas is the tenth great grandchild of Her Majesty the Queen. 

March 22

An official announcement was made that The Queen has appointed Prince William to be Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland this year. The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland is a week-long event that dates back to the 16th Century. 

Prince William's sister-in-law, Pippa (Middleton) Matthews, is spotted strolling in London with her new born daughter, Grace. Grace is Pippa and husband James Matthews' second child and was born on March 15.


March 23


Princess Eugenie turns 31!

While Princess Eugenie is celebrating her birthday, Prince William and Catherine visited Westminster Abbey, which has been a COVID vaccine administration site since March, to hear from staff about their experiences of being involved in the largest ever UK vaccination program. They also met a number of people receiving their vaccines.



Their Royal Highnesses also marked National Day of Reflection, marking one year since the first lockdown in the UK. They took part in a moment of reflection at the Abbey to remember those who lost their lives as a result of the pandemic.


On the same day, a spokesperson for The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry announced he will be starting a new job at Chief Impact Officer with tech startup BetterUp


It is said that Harry will preside over a "board array of responsibilities" that include giving "input into initiatives including product strategy decisions and charitable contributions," plus continue public advocacy of topics related to mental health. He will not be a manager, but will reportedly attend all meetings and make appearance at the start up's San Francisco office.

March 24

The Princess Royal visited the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service where she met the waste and recycling collection crew. 


Princess Eugenie released two new photos on Instagram with her husband Jack and son August thanking everyone for her birthday wishes.



In a busy day for the Royal Family, Prince Charles and Camilla arrive in Athens, Greece to attend Bicentenary Independence Day celebrations. They are greeted at the Athens International Airport by her Majesty's Ambassador to Greece, Kate Smith.


The Prince and the Duchess are welcomed to the National Gallery is Athens by the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the opening of the renovated gallery. The official ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the National Gallery was held as part of the Independence Day celebrations. 


While his estranged father is in Greece on behalf of the Monarchy, more Harry news is released from the US. Prince Harry will be joining the Aspen Institute's new Commission on Information Disorder as a commissioner. Harry, fourteen other commissioners, and three co-chairs will conduct a six month long study on the state of American misinformation and disinformation in the digital world.


Princess Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are welcomed to a state dinner in Athens that evening by Greece's president Katerina Sakellaropolou. The Prince of Wales gave a speech about the ties between the UK and Greece during the Bicentenary Dinner.


March 25

In Athens, Their Royal Highnesses joined representatives from Greece, Cyprus, France, and Russia at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier for a wreath laying ceremony. 


As part of the Bicentenary Independence Day celebration at Syntagma Square, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall view a military parade followed by a fly-past. 


Following the Bicentenary Independence Day events, The Prince and The Duchess were welcomed to the Presidential Mansion by the president and her partner. Later in the day, The Prince attended a meeting with the Greek Prime Minister and met with business leaders at Athens City Hall. 



At Athens City Hall, the Mayor of Athens presented Prince Charles with the Gold Medal of Honour for services to the city and to Greece which the Prince said he will"treasure" and that it will always remind him of the connections to the country. The couple leave Greece to return to the UK that evening.


Meanwhile, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a video message via the Time to Change organization thanking everyone who has been apart of the charity's campaign to end mental health stigma.


Her Royal Highness Sophie, Countess of Wessex virtually visited South Sudan, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. The Countess was joined by other advocates who have campaigned for survivors of sexual violence in conflict to be at the heart of finding solutions to the global issue. Sophie was the first member of the Royal Family to visit South Sudan, traveling in 2020 to meet and to listen to experiences of those affected by gender-based violence. 

March 27

In a a special video message on released on the Scottish Rugby's twitter account, The Princess Royal, patron of Scotland Rugby, marked the 150th anniversary of the first international rugby match - between England and Scotland! 


On the same day, to mark World Theater Day, His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex spoke with representatives from Hall from Cornwall about the impact of the pandemic and their excitement to re-open in the near future.


Hall for Cornwall is Cornwall's leading theater and arts venue hosting drama, dance, music, and comedy performances.

March 28

Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge releases her newest project, a curated photo book entitled Hold Still. The book will feature photography that has captured individuals' stories that document significant moments for families and communities during the pandemic.


The Duchess has said that she hopes the book shows "the incredible acts of kindness, the helpers and heroes who emerged from all walks of like, and how together we adapted to a new normal." Proceeds from the sale of the book will split between mental health charity Mind and The National Portrait Gallery. The book will be available online and at UK bookstores on May 7 and is currently eligible for pre-order.


March 29

Princess Beatrice is featured in YouTube video by the Made by Dyslexia organization. In the video the Princess reads Xtraordinary People ahead of International Children's Day on April 2. Beatrice shares her own experiences with dyslexia in a separate video on the channel.


March 30

The Duchess of Cornwall met with station manager Darren O'Brien and representatives from Rail Delivery Group and Women's Aid at Victoria Station to discuss the Rail to Refuge program. The initiative helps people escape domestic abuse and reach a safe refuge quickly and free of charge. The Rails to Refuge program was introduced during the UK's first lockdown and figures have shown that four survivors per day (on average) have used the program. 


The Duchess then headed to East Sussex to visit Kamson's Pharmacy's warehouse to thank frontline workers who have been working in pharmacies across the UK during the pandemic including during lockdown. She met with warehouse employees, delivery drivers, and office staff.


For Camilla's last event in a busy day, she visited Christ Church in Lewes where she met with volunteers. The church has been transformed into a foodbank during the pandemic. The Duchess also met with volunteers from the Lewes Open Door charity which runs a weekly lunch program for homeless people in the community.


March 31

The Queen celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Australian Air Force at the Commonwealth War Graves Air Forces Memorial in Runnymede. This was the Queen's first in-person engagement of 2021.


The memorial commemorated more that 20,000 Commonwealth airmen and women who died during operations in northern and western Europe and have no known grave. More than 1,300 of those commemorated at Runnymede served with the Australian Air Force.


His Royal Highness, Prince William the Duke of Cambridge sent the Australian Air Force a video to recognize the Centenary and 100 years of service to Australia. The video can be viewed on the Australian Air Force's twitter page.


Across the pond, Prince William's brother Harry is spotted on a beach in Santa Barbara with his dog Pula near the home he shares with his wife Meghan and their son Archie in Montecito, California.



April 2

The Royal Family release two new photos of Her Majesty the Queen and The Prince of Wales enjoying a walk around Frogmore House in Windsor to celebrate and mark Easter. 


April 5

Princess Eugenie release another new photo of her family which includes husband Jack Brooksbank and son August Philip Hawke, on Instagram wishing her followers a happy Easter and blossoming Spring.


April 7

The Duchess of Cornwall visited communities in Haringey, London. Her first stop was at Lordship Lane Vaccination Centre where Her Royal Highness met staff, volunteers, and citizens receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.


The Duchess was then welcomed to the Wrightman Road Mosque  by Sister Bibi Khan, president of the London Islamic Society. Members of the mosque have been helping those in need by distributing food hampers as well as providing counseling for those struggling. The Mosque was the first to hold a pop-up vaccine center in Haringey.


April 9

Her Majesty the Queen announced the death of her husband of 73 years, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The 99-year-old longest living Royal Consort passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle.


April 10

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales released a video statement paying tribute to The Duke of Edinburgh on behalf of the Royal Family, and his sister Princess Anne released a written statement of her own.

The Palace announced that The Duke's funeral will take place on Saturday, April 17 at 3:00 pm at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. It it said that the plans for the funeral are in line with The Duke of Edinburgh's own personal wishes. It will be a Ceremonial Royal Funeral rather than a State Funeral which is generally reserved for Monarchs.


The Duke of Edinburgh's coffin, which will be draped with His Royal Highness's Personal Standard and a wreath of flowers, will be in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle until the day of the funeral. The Duke's casket will be taken to St. George's Chapel in a purpose-built Land Rover - which he was involved in the design of - flanked by military pall bearers the day of the funeral.


The funeral service will be attended by Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family including the Duke's grandson Prince Harry who is estranged from the family.


Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Harry's wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (also estranged from the family) will not attend 'on doctor's advice.' The Duchess, who resides in California, is pregnant with the couple's second child (a girl) and was advised not to travel to the UK. Funerals are limited to 30 people under UK government guidelines due to COVID. 


Prince William, President of the BAFTAs since 2010, pulled out of the weekend's ceremonies in a statement released by the BAFTAs that read:

In light of The Duke of Edinburgh's passing, The Duke of Cambridge will no longer be a part of the BAFTA programming this weekend. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family to whom we offer our deepest sympathy at this time.


William was due to be included in a pre-reordered interview on Saturday about filming during the COVID lockdown and was also set to deliver a speech virtually on Sunday.


April 11


The Earl and Countess of Wessex along with their daughter Lady Louise attended a church service in Windsor. After the service on Sunday, the late-Duke of Edinburgh's daughter-in-law Sophie, Countess of Wessex told reporters his death was "very peaceful." She went on to say, "It was right for him. It was so gentle. It was just like somebody took him by the hand and off her went."
