reapply a lot in the winter). Always having it in my
purse works as a constant reminder to reapply after eating out or while out
running errands (if need be).

Aquaphor Healing Ointment can be purchased in a jar or tube, and pocket size portable-friendly .35 oz tubes. Aquaphor costs between $5 and $15 depending on what form you buy it in. The jars hold the most product so, naturally, that’s going to be the most expensive. You can find Aquaphor at your grocery store, drug stores, Wal-Mart, and Target. I always start at my grocery store and Target because that is usually where it is the cheapest.
DEW KISS LIP DEW by Avon
The best way to describe this product is as a lip gloss in chap
stick form or maybe a lip balm. I don’t like lip glosses because they tend to
feel heavy and are really sticky. I wanted something lighter with just a little
hint of tint and Dew Kiss delivers. The product is light on my lips and
enhances my lips' natural color by making them look hydrated (and dewy). It
smells AMAZING! I wear it as part of my everyday makeup look. It’s packaged in
a pink chap stick tube which makes it super portable! I can carry it in my
purse or conveniently in my pocket. I reapply throughout the day like you would
for any lip gloss or stick. Lip Dew just gives an incredible fresh, glossy
look.
This little gem is available only through Avon. Dew Kiss Lip
Dew costs 99 cents (yes, you read that correctly) and goes on sale four times a
year for 69 cents. Amazon does carry this product. This may be the one and only
time I’m going to tell you not to use Amazon. The product was listed for $5 on
the site!!! To purchase Dew Kiss you can find a local Avon dealer or order it
from my website – www.youravon.com/afleury
(product # 188342).

LONG LASTING LIPSTICK in BAMBOO PINK by Clinique
I always thought lipstick was for an older generation. My grandma
(Grandmommie) always wore lipstick.
From my earliest memory up until she passed away in March she was never without
her Chanel lipstick. She had numerous tubes in her vanity drawers, and always
carried it with her. I remember her reapplying it after eating, drinking, or
smoking a cigarette. The older I got the more I realized that my Grandmommie
was pretty kick-ass. She was this southern belle who took great pride in
keeping her home, being a wife, and raising her children. She was classy, and
beautiful, and so smart. So, when I received a free tube of lipstick from Clinique’s
Long Lasting Lipstick line I’d figured I’d give it a try. What was good for
Grandmommie might be good for me!

The free sample I got came in a color called Bamboo Pink. First,
I am hesitant about any color on my lips making me look like a) I’m trying too
hard b) I have too much makeup on and c) a hooker. I gave it a shot for
Grandmommie! The color is not too dark for my liking and it goes on really
smooth. It feels moist and hydrates my lips. I find that some lipsticks tend to
dry out your lips. The Bamboo Pink color offers a slight shimmer. Shimmer is something
I try to stay away from. I personally don’t find it age appropriate (for me - I’m
pushing 30!). I like that the color is light enough to wear to work or I can
punch it up for a night out (hint-hint, hubs! I know you are reading this…). I’m
hooked. It’s an all-around great product that lasts and is easy to carry for
reapplication.
I love Clinique anything because it’s all dermatologist
tested and usually has some sort benefit (evens out skin tone, moisturizing,
correcting, etc). You can purchase Clinique’s Long Lasting Lipstick at any
Clinique counter for $15. Counters can be found in Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards,
Boscovs and some Sephora's… or you can shop online at www.clinique.com
– shipping is usually free. The Long Lasting Lipstick comes in an array of
colors; if Bamboo Pink is not the right shade for you there are plenty more to
choose from!
Me and Grandmommie - January 2013 (2 months before she passed away). She hadn't yet reapplied after our lunch. |

Aquaphor is AMAZING stuff. I use it on my lips, areas of dryness, and even as a makeup remover. I've never tried any of Avon's glosses, so I'll have to give them a try based on your recommendation :) Hope you're having a great week!

I love Clinque stuff. Always been worth the price in my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteI will definitely have to try Aquaphor. My lips aren't as bad as yours, but they definitely get dry almost daily.
ReplyDeleteAnd, slightly off topic, but I just wanted to let you know that I've tagged you in a "Would You Rather" tag, if you're interested :) Thanks for writing such a fun blog!
