Literary Junkies Link Party

I am so excited that I stumbled upon this link up that takes place on the third Tuesday of each month. I have been an avid reader since childhood so I am thrilled to link up with my fellow book lovers!

Join in on the fun and create your own post answering the following questions!
1. What are you currently reading? Tell us about it!

2. What is one book you think every person should read at least once in their life? Why?

3. Do you think you could ever write a book? If so what genre would it be?
4. Do you listen to audiobooks? Do you look for the same things in an audiobook that you do in one you’ll read?

5. Can you suggest a book of each type of others to try? : Fantasy, Nonfiction, Fiction, Romance, Classic, Young Adult

I am currently reading The Girl Who Played with Fire by Steig Larsson.
The Girl Who Played with Fire  is the second novel in the best-selling "Millennium series." It was published in Swedish in 2006 and in English in January 2009.
The book features many of the characters that appeared in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo among them the title character, Lisbeth Salander, a brilliant computer hacker  and social misfit, and Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist and publisher of Millennium magazine.
Mikael Blomkvist, crusading publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation. On the eve of its publication, the two reporters responsible for the article are murdered, and the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to his friend, the troubled genius hacker Lisbeth Salander. Blomkvist, convinced of Salander’s innocence, plunges into an investigation. Meanwhile, Salander herself is drawn into a murderous game of cat and mouse, which forces her to face her dark past.
This book is an easy read in some ways and harder in others. There are a lot of characters to remember and they all have Swedish names that I guess at the pronunciation. This book, having been translated to English from Swedish, has grammatical and word choice differences versus a book that does not have to be translated. I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and just had to continue the series. They are long books, but quick reads because they are so interesting! I love Larsson's style of writing and his way of creating suspense. It is a true shame that Larsson is no longer living. He would have had a lot more to contribute to the literary world!
I think that everyone should read at least one Jodi Picoult book in his or her life. She's really a master of fiction. I'm not a huge fan of Picoult's newest stuff, but her older books are amazing. I would recommend her books such as Salem Falls, The Pact, Mercy - really anything published before 2010.

I would love to write a book! I was that dork in your middle school class writing novels and short stories. I would love to write novels. I would probably write chick lit or young adult - something that is not too heavy and fun to read!

Before starting my current job in April, the drive to my old job was 30 to 45 minutes each way five days a week. Audiobooks were my best friend! I listen mostly to nonfiction audiobooks where as I read mostly fiction. I listened to some amazing biographies and other nonfiction selections.
My book recommendations:
Fantasy: The Hunger Games trilogy

Nonfiction:  Anne Frank: The Diary of  Young Girl or
The Color of Rain

Ficton: A Heart Life Mine by Amy Hatvany, Daughters-In-Law by Joanna Trollope, or 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult

Young Adult: The Pretty Little Liars series
Challenge yourself this week: Instead of watching TV in your free time, pick up one of my suggested books! Head over to Facebook and share with others!
HAPPY READING!

  2. I love that you said Jodi Picoult! I have read every single one of her books except The Storyteller. I'm waiting for the paperback to be released so I can add it to my collection. :) And I'm watching PLL right now on Netflix! Haha. I haven't read the books yet. Are they worth reading if I've already seen the show?
