2018 Emmy Fashion

One week ago this evening the stars of streaming and prime time television hit the red carpet to celebrate their works from the last year. With every red carpet event comes the fashion, the stars, and the designers show off.

Vanessa Kirby in Tom Ford

The Crown actress blew me away in this nude Tom Ford dress which features a bustier top with holster straps. The fit is out of this world and this is color that not many an pull off. This is Vanessa's second time on one of m best dressed lists.

Dakota Fanning in Dior Haute Couture

I love this pleated, belted, green dress. The color is prefect for Dakota's skin and hair color, and I love the wrap element of the top. Word was that she was wearing 175 karats of emeralds to accessorize the look. You've got check out the side and back...

Also, kudos to a child star who didn't turn out to be bat shit crazy as an adult.

Heidi Klum in Zac Posen

I love Zac Posen, and Heidi Klum looks great in this creation. The fabric is so silky and effortless. It gathers in all the right places and makes the dress visually interesting.

Judith Light in Christian Siriano

Judith, another second timer on my best dressed, looks brilliant in a yellow creation by Project Runway-alum. Christian often designs for Judith - talk about a designer and his muse! I love the long sleeves, mock turtle neck, and attached cape detail. Yellow is totally getting it's moment thanks to The Duchess of Sussex, Amal Clooney. and the Duchess of Cambridge

Maika Monroe in Stella McCartney

I have a love affair of white. I love this take on a pantsuit. It's tailored, yet flirty, fun, and sophisticated. Maika fills out the top perfectly!

Fashion WTFs for me this year include Tracee Ellis Ross (again), Tiffany Haddish, Alexis BledelAmy Sedaris, and Chrissy Tiegan.

Fall Fashion Inspired by Kate Middleton

A long sleeve, shirt dress dress with a print is the perfect staple for your Fall work wardrobe. The Duchess has been seen rocking a shirt dress on many different occasions while on official business. I like the Oasis Blossom Print Skater Shirt Dress. Dress up like the Duchess, but at more than half the cost.

Kate can keep it casual too. Grab a pair of moto jeans, printed blouse, and comfy pair of boat shoes for a royally casual Fall look!

Catherine is the queen on transitional pieces she can dress up and dress down. A good pair of  dark skinny jeans, a luxe-looking sweater, and printed pashmina can be dressed up with a pair of heels or booties or dressed down with a pair of flats!

A sweater, pair of pants, and sneakers are perfect for you... and a princess too!

Hey! Did You Hear? (Five on Friday)

//1// Barnum's animal crackers have been unleashed!

Instead of the animals caged in a boxcar on their way to a circus, the animals are now roaming free. The giraffe, gorilla, elephant, lion, and zebra are now pictured on the box roaming in a grassland.

//2// The first member of the Air Force since the Vietnam War was awarded the Medal of Honor.

About damn time. The Medal of Honor is American's highest award for valor in combat. The award was bestowed upon Air Force Technical Sargent John A. Chapman for his valor in a battle at Takur Ghar on March 4, 2002. Chapman and five other U.S. service members died during this battle. Chapman, alone on the battlefield, was killed after knowingly stepping into the sights of an al-Qaeda machine gun team, likely to stop enemy fighters from shooting down an incoming U.S. military helicopter.

The award was present to Valerie Nessel, the airman's widow, during a ceremony at the White House.

//3// The Eagles upset MJ.

The Eagles' album, 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975' is now the best selling album OF ALL TIME. The album is now certified 38 times platinum which pushes Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' (which is 33 times platinum) to second place!

//4// The first Japanese tennis player won a major tennis tournament.

20-year old Naomi Osaka was the VERY FIRST Japanese player to win a major tennis tournament (the majors include the Australian Open, the US Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon). Osaka beat Serena Williams in straight sets at the US Open on September 8th. You go, girl!

//5// Is it her or isn't it?

The above photo went viral after an American from South Florida posted it on her twitter account claiming it's Meghan Markle outside of the private entrances of Kensington Palace. It sure looks like Meghan (with the exception of the bad shoes and high-waters), but the claim has come in to question. What do you think?

DIY Mold Remover

Keeping the tracks and doors of my shower clean has always been a battle, and, let's face it... mold loves to grow in moist, warm places. I enlisted some common household products to help me out.

Both distilled white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide are effective alternatives to bleach to kill mold spores in porous and non-porous materials. Hydrogen peroxide is non-toxic and won't leave any toxic residue or fumes. It's also a natural antiviral, anti-fungal, and antibacterial agent.

What You'll Need:

3% hydrogen peroxide
warm water
squirt bottle

What You'll Need to Do:

Mix 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1 cup of warm water in the squirt bottle.
Spray on the mold/mildew.
Allow it to sit for 1 hour.
Rinse and wipe clean.

Now it's your turn to get Fall glam!

Apple Pie Iced Tea

Summer is my favorite season and I'm not ready to usher it out yet; however, I do enjoy the tastes of Fall such as pumpkin spice and apples! Apple Pie Iced Tea is the perfect transition drink for when the calendar says September, but there's still summer-weather hot!

What You'll Need:

hot apple cider (my favorite)
tea bags (my favorite)
1 apple, sliced (try gala or red delicious as they are best for juicing)
cinnamon sticks

What You'll Need to Do:

Prepare your hot apple cider as directed based on what kind you use.
Place cinnamon stick into the hot cider.
Allow to cool.
Prepare the hot tea, using 2 tea bags per one serving of hot apple cider.
Allow to cool.
Cut and slice apple.
Once cider and tea are cool, mix all ingredients together.
Pour over a glass of ice.
ENJOY!

In my R+Co lineup I have Sunset Blvd shampoo, Television conditioner, and Pinstripe detangler. Sunset Blvd shampoo is marketed as a blonde shampoo and is described as Photoshop for you air. Sunset Blvd eliminates brassy tones making blondes extra bright. It can also be used enhance gray hair. I've gotten hooked on the Television conditioner. It gives my hair body and shine while strengthening and softening. No questions, with having my hair blonde, I have to have a detangler in my routine. The Pinstripe detangler is great for unmanageable or dry hair. It works to detangle, condition, and hydrate weightlessly.

I love the company's website. It gives a detailed description, how-to videos and instructions, list of ingredients, information about the scent, and - my favorite - what other products it pairs well with for each and every product. Be sure to check it out. It's got everything you'd ever want.

I look forward to snatching up R+Co's One and Tinsel. Tinsel is a smoothing oil made up of Vitamin E and argan and jojoba oils that is applied to wet hair for shiny and frizz-free hair. One is described as a primer or  for the hair. It protects the hair from everything else you are going to do to it. It evens out the porosity of the hair so that the other products adhere evenly. It's also great for detangling and light conditioning. It's protects from the heats of styling too!
