The Perfect Pimm's

Pimm's is one of my favorite summer drinks. I love dining al fresco at Alpen Rose in Holland, Michigan sipping a Pimm's and reminiscing about my time in Europe. Pimm's is a gin-based alcohol made in England from dry gin, liqueur, fruit juices, and spices. When served with a lemon-line soda or ginger ale it becomes a Pimm's Cup, which is the most common - but not the only way - to drink Pimm's.

What You'll Need:

1 part Pimm's
3 parts lemonade
8 strawberries
20 mint leaves
1 apple
1/2 of a cucumber
1/2 of an orange

What You'll Need to Do:

Remove stems from strawberries and cut vertically in to quarters.
Core the apple and cut into same pieces with skins left on.
Cut the cucumber in half and remove the seeds. Cut in half again and chop in to chunks.
Cut the orange in to six wedges leaving the skin on.
Place fruit, mint leaves, and cucumbers into a jug.
Pour Pimm's in to the jug and stir gently.
Fill the container with ice.
Top with the lemonade.
Serve over ice.
ENJOY!

Good Reads: The Choices We Make by Karma Brown

Good Reads Synopsis:

Hannah and Kate became friends in the fifth grade, when Hannah hit a boy for looking up Kate's skirt with a mirror. While they've been close as sisters ever since, Hannah can't help but feel envious of the little family Kate and her husband, David, have created—complete with two perfect little girls.

She and Ben have been trying for years to have a baby, so when they receive the news that she will likely never get pregnant, Hannah's heartbreak is overwhelming. But just as they begin to tentatively explore the other options, it's Kate's turn to do the rescuing. Not only does she offer to be Hannah's surrogate, but Kate is willing to use her own eggs to do so.

Full of renewed hope, excitement and gratitude, these two families embark on an incredible journey toward parenthood…until a devastating tragedy puts everything these women have worked toward at risk of falling apart. Poignant and refreshingly honest, The Choices We Make is a powerful tale of two mothers, one incredible friendship and the risks we take to make our dreams come true.

My Thoughts:

God gave Karma Brown the gift of the written word and we are all blessed that she chooses to share her talent. This book was beautifully written and thought provoking. It weaves a tale of the love between two best friends, how far they'll go for each other, and how those decisions can change a friendship. The Choices We Make is centered around the current hot topic of infertility and how far couples are willing to go to fulfill the dream of having a child.  This is a real tear jerker. By the end I had big, fat tears rolling down my cheeks. This is book was pretty remarkable. A must read!

Celeb Looks for Less

Don't we all wish we could dress like our favorite celebs? Unfortunately, most of us don't have a celebrity's budget,  so I picked four of my favorite celebs and went on a mission to find affordable, inspired-by-celeb pieces.

8+ pieces // Total: $222

Megan Markle, an American actress, has played Rachel Zane on the legal drama Suits since 2011, but has recently come into the spotlight as the girlfriend of HRH Prince Harry. Not to be touted as only a Royal Girlfriend, Meghan became the Global Ambassador fo World Vision Canada in 2016 and travel to Rwanda for the Clean Water  Campaign. She has also worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

8 pieces // Total: $275

Southern Belle Emily Maynard-Johnson was Bachelorette #8 and my favorite, followed closely by JoJo Fletcher and Andi Dorfman. Since her run as The Bachelorette in 2012, Emily has found love off camera, married, and added two more babies to her brood. I continue to follow her at emilymaynard.com for her latest fashion and jewelry!

6 pieces // Total: $211

Caroline Stanbury is the Head Bitch in Charge on Bravo's Ladies of London. Her bold fashion sense matches her bold personality. She's fashion forward, always one step ahead, and you never know what you'll see her wearing (like a denim dress and snake skin boots!).

7 pieces // Total: $169

Carrie Underwood is my ultimate girl crush and fitness inspiration. Whether she's dress up, dressed down, on stage, or on the red carpet, Carrie is one to emulate. She's a master a mixing sweet country with Hollywood glam!

Whose style would you like to see next?

Five on Friday 7.14.17

//1// I'm loving eos Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream! The sheabutter shaving cream is available in four scents - tropical fruits, pomegranate raspberry, vanilla bliss, and lavender jasmine. I love how moisturized my legs feel after using it.

My skin's sensitive and always really irritated after shaving, and this product has changed my. It also has nourishing vitamins, green tea, and grade seed extracts. You can also use it to shave dry! I purchased mine at Target.

//2// I'm back on the Downton Abbey train. I know the series end so long ago, but I was so far behind. I finally finished Season 5 this week after not having watched it for over a year!

I forgot how much I loved this show. It has some of my favorite fiction love stories such as Branson and Lady Sybil, Anna and Bates, and Atticus and Lady Rose. I have the last season to watch, and I'll be sad when it's done. Who was your favorite Downton couple, and please - no spoilers!

//3// Check out Experiencing the Monaco Grand Prix, my first post about my trip to Europe in May!

//4//

//5// I'm excited to announce our next adventure... We're headed to Ireland! We found an amazing off-season deal and will be headed to Ireland at the end of January. Can't wait!
