Happy Monday! First Monday Madness post on the year. Let me get you up to speed...

New year, new look. It was time to give A Cute Angle a little face lift and I went to Etsy for help. I found CelloDesigns and the Dionne Template. After I the designer installed it for me (thank you!) I realized it was more pink than my signature purple. I brought my concern to her, and she's totally customized the template to exactly my vision for A Cute Angle. Something that never changes on my blog is my custom header designed by my friend from college, Tom McMeekin. That will always stay. He really nailed my personality in it.

Another important thing to note is that A Cute Angle has a new web address (!). The blog can now be found at http://acuteangleblog.blogspt.com. My handle on Instagram and Twitter is now @ACuteAngleBlog. Use the icons to the right to make sure you're following me on all social media platforms!

This weekend Nick and I got some professional photos taken for the first time since our wedding! With our tenth wedding anniversary approaching I felt the timing was right. We had our little baby Scout in the photos too. We ended up working with a very sweet photographer, Jessica, from Jessica G Photography. We did mostly studio shots, but we did all brave the 18 degree weather for a few outdoor shots (including Scout)! I can't wait to see how they turned out.

I went with my friends Jess and Nikki on Saturday night to an A capell-Off at a local high schools which featured local college a capella groups.

Some of it was really, really awkward. Like some really bad arrangements and really, really questionable outfit choices.

It got better has the night went on and I ended up enjoying myself.

We finally got all of our Christmas stuff down this weekend! We needed to do it before leaving for Ireland and just a few short days!

I'm so excited to discover another new country! We'll be staying in Dublin, Killarney, and Waterford with tons of stops in between including The Cliffs of Moher, Blarney, and Killorglin.

Been playing with my new Google Pixel phone. This porg took over Scout's crate!

2018 Golden Globes Fashion

The stars came out in black for this year's Golden Globes, held on Sunday, January 7. The all-black attire was in support of the #MeToo movement and a way to recognize and stand against sexual harassment, assault, and abuse within the entertainment industry. Here are my favorite five.

Laura Dern in Armani Prive

Laura Dern has made my best dress list before. She makes really smart choices. I love the zipper detail and illusion neckline on this dress. It makes what could have been just-another-sparkly-lack-dress really unique and special. And it just looks killer on her. With that bod though, she looks great in everything! Also loving the bracelet and hair (mainly jealous because my hair won't curl like that).

Madeline Brewer in DVF (Diane Von Furstenberg)

I love DVF. Her designs are feminine and classic. Madeline (aka Crazy Janine from The Handmaid's Tale) is so elegant in this black halter slip dress. I like how the fringe references the early 1900s, yet her red lips and nails make the overall look very present day. Gorgeous! Also, I have no idea how this actress was not nominated for any awards this year. She was OUTSTANDING.

Allison Janney in Mario Dice

Is she really 58 years old? I mean, come on! She's rocking sleek/illusion/cut out/nude better than girls half her age. The fit is impeccable!

Nicole Kidman in Givenchy

It's hard to look sweet in black, but Nicole Kidman pulls it off. I love how the beading and lace of the top stands out against the solid black bottom. Her choice to have her hair pulled back and let the neckline and sleeves of the dress show was perfect. Love the bling!

Laurie Metcalf in Sachin & Babi

I just love it. The pants are a perfect length, the neckline hits at the right spot, and the coat cinches right at the natural waist. The jacket's sleeve length is perfect for her. The texture really makes you do a double take, and I'm a sucker for a train. Love the plum colored shoes!

Honorable mentions go to Allison Williams and Gillian Anderson. There was so much bad to be had too. My worst dress list includes Ramsey Naito, Dakota Johnson, Caitriona Balfe, Amanda Peet, Connie Britton, and Eva Longoria (to name a few).

Five Uses for Sugar in Your Beauty Routine

//1// AS AN EXFOLIANT. Sugar makes a great natural exfoliant. Rubbing sugar on your arms, back, and legs while in the shower will schlep off dead skin cells and leave your skin super smooth. The smooth surface will help lip color stay on longer.

//3// DIY HAIR DETOX. Mix a teaspoon of granulated sugar into your squeeze of shampoo and rub it into your scalp. The sugar gently exfoliates the scalp getting rid of dirt and product residue. The scalp is the base to great hair!

//4// SUGAR SPRAY TO TEXTURIZE HAIR. Overusing salt spray can eventually dry out your hair. Sugar spray is a great new way to get that beachy texture without the dryness. The key to sugar spray is sugar cane extract. Afford sugar sprays include Keratin Complex Sweet Definition Texturizing Sugar Mist ($17), Tigi Bed Head Sugar Shock Hair Bodifying Sugar Spray ($15.95 at Target!), and Wella EIMI Lift Sugar Spray for Voluminous Texture ($19 at Ulta).

//5// SUGARING. You can use sugar to remove unwanted body hair. 'Sugaring' employs all natural ingredients including sugar, water, and lemon juice to remove excess hair. Sugaring is much like waxing in that the hair out from the root. It's main draw is that its said to only remove the hair - not the top layer of your skin. Waxing leaves which is what leaves your skin inflamed and irritated, whereas sugaring is gentler on the skin. Frequent sugaring can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, stopping hair growth.
