Blogging the Bachelorette: Beauty Tutorial

Everyone knows that I have a total girl crush on this season's Bachelorette, JoJo Fletcher. Her hair, makeup, and styling are always on point and she's got a killer bod. Without an episode to recap this week, I figured it was time for a JoJo beauty tutorial!

FACE

JoJo's face is always matte and never shiny which is a huge feat under those hot lights they use for television.

Start with Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer, The cocktail parties and dates often go late into the night (and even into the morning!) so you'll want to start with a primer that helps create a long lasting look. The 'light' primer is also a great option to avoid any shine.

To get JoJo's matte base try Makeup Forever's Mat Velvet + . Buff it over the entire face.

Foundation can flatten the planes of your face, and JoJo is anything put flat. To get a look that pops, apply a shimmering pressed powder on the tip of your nose, the arch of your eyebrows, vertically above each eyebrows, and across your cheekbones.  Try Nars Light Reflecting Setting Powder.

If anyone knows and understands contouring it's JoJo. She has it down to a science. NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette is a great cost effective item to have in your  makeup bag.

To get a contour like JoJo's, start with your contouring product at the top of your ear and draw diagonally towards the corner of your mouth, stopping about 1.5 inches from your mouth. Don't forget to buff the line with a large brush.

To make the contour look even more natural, sweep a JoJo inspired blush (such as Fiona Stiles Soft Cheek Veil in Sweatwater) into the apples of the cheeks, blending into the contour line.

LIPS

JoJo always wears a nude or light pink lip. My favorite JoJo inspired lip stick is Rimmel's Airy Fairy. Make your lipstick last longer (though all the kissing!) by lining and filling your lips in with Moodstruck Precision Pencil Lip Liner in Pouty.

EYES

JoJo often goes with a very neutral eye and makes a impact with her eyeliner and mascara. Start with a neutral palette such as Urban Decay Naked. Blend colors such a Naked and Suck together on the eyelid to create the matte chocolaty color JoJo sports. For a shimmery look combine Smog and Darkhorse.

Line the top and bottom on the lids with a black liner such as Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eyeliner in Perfect.  Blend with a small eye brush for a sexy, smudged look. Coat your upper and lower lashes two to three times for maximum volume and length. I love Lancome Hypnose Drama.

HAIR

JoJo totally rocks the baylage trend. Baylage is best achieved in a salon, but if you're feeling brave you can try to get the look at home with an ombre kit such at Loreal Feria Ombre Hair Color. This year's bachelorette has got some super long, super healthy hair. Healthify your hair with SugarBearHair gummies. A lot of ex bachelor girls are pushing them on Instagram these days.

JoJo's signature waves are easy to obtain. Use a 2" curling wand all over your head and spray with a flexible hold hairspray. JoJo perfection.

Come back next Wednesday for Blogging the Bachelorette: Recap of Episode 5!

  2. I love this post Ashley! I try to contour - but am not too good at it! Some of our readers asked for a tutorial and I haven't done it yet, because I figure I would have to do it and take pictures :) I am blessed with great cheekbones, so I typically slap a bit of bronzer in that shadow and move along! Urban Decay Naked is my favorite, some of the other products you mention, I have never heard of - so will be checking them out! ~Kerry
