Dream Destinations: Tahiti

Who doesn't want to jet off to an exotic island in the Pacific? I'm usually a city traveler, but I dream about getting away and staying in one of those remote huts with just my husband, white sand beaches and crystal blue waters around me.

118 islands cover over two million square miles of the South Pacific Ocean over five archipelagos. The archipelago sought out most by visitors is the Society Islands, comprised of Tahiti, Morrea, Bora Bora, Huahine, and Raiatea, and Taha'a. These isles feature romantic sunsets, giant curls of turquoise breaking onto colorful reefs, tranquil lagoons of warm, emerald water and white sand beaches

Things to do in Tahiti:

//1// Tahiti island tour including Venus Point and Grotto Caves of Maraa

Learn about the history of French Polynesia, soak up panoramic island views, and visit gorgeous waterfalls and botanic gardens.

//2// Musee de la Perle Robert Wan (The Robert Wan Pearl Museum)

Learn the history of the Polynesian black pearl and see displays of other unique jewelry.

//3// Tomb of King Pomare V

Pomare V was the last monarch of Tahiti, reigning from 1877 until his force abdication in 1880. On June 29, 1880 he gave Tahiti and its dependencies to France, and was then given a pension by French government and the position of Officer of the Orders of the Legion of Honor and Agricultural Merit of France. He died in the Royal Palace of alcoholism.

Other areas of interest include Notre Dam, Municipal Market, snorkeling, swimming with sharks, dolphin and whale watching, and the Fautaua waterfall.

Dream Destinations is a series in which I feature different places I haven't travled to, but are a must see, and feature three things to do at that destination.
