2014 Met Gala Fashion

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. It also serves as an opening celebration for the institute's annual fashion exhibit. It is widely regarded as one of the most exclusive social events in New York and one of the biggest fundraising nights of the city. In layman’s terms it’s a night for celebs to spend $25,000 on a ticket and dress as crazy as they want.

Here are some of my favorites for the 2014 Met Gala. Of course my choices are demure and subdued.
Gisele Bunchen

Victoria Beckham

Selena Gomez

Alison Williams

Anna Kendrick
And here are those who arrived at the Met Gala via The Crazy Train…

Lena Dunham

Kate Upton

Solange Knowles

Naomi Watts

Shalene Woodley
There was some crazy fashion!

Travel Based on Your Zodiac Sign

The Huffington Post recently released an article about picking a vacation spot based on your astrological sign. The author researched the characteristics of each astrological sign to give an idea of what type of travel might be best.

My husband, Nick, and I both happen to be Cancers. Here is our travel forecast:

Cancer:
You Cancers out there are the most sensitive of all the signs and maybe even the most sentimental. Perhaps a trip to your home town or somewhere with a deep nostalgic connection can make the Cancer traveler the happiest. You're an emotional sign, which isn't always a bad thing so if you there is any city or site that makes your heart aflutter, that's your hot spot.

I don't read my horoscope and don't usually buy into the whole astrological thing; therefore, I was super surprised at how accurately this describes both me and Nick! Nick loves visiting his parents' house, his grandparents' house, and likes to vacation places he went when he was a kid. Whenever we do the Michigan-Pennsylvania/Pennsylvania-Michigan car trips we ALWAYS stop in Clarion where I went to college. I love touring campus, eating at local restaurants, and telling Nick about the great times that I had there! Now that I don't live in the same state as my family, I love going home and just spending time with them and friends.

Girls Day in NYC! A place geographically located close to my hometown and a place with a lot of sentimenal value!

All the Angle kids are on the blog today! Me at home in Pennsylvania with my niece, the littlest Angle

At my grandparents house with Nick, my sister, my sister-in-law, and my brother. My brother, sister, and I share so many awesome memories from this place!

On the flip side, I really love new adventures. I'm not an outdoorsy girl, but I love to venture to new cities - like when I traveled to Europe last year and how I'm heading to Nashville and the Bahamas this summer. I want to see as much as I can and experience as many new things as I can in my lifetime!

Me in Vienna, Austria!

Me in San Diego, California.

Me in Nuremberg, Germany!

The article suggested Leos visit Disney World. When I told my Leo sister, Courtney this her response was, "Disney sounds like a nightmare!" So, it may not be totally accurate, but it's fun! Check it out.

Today I am linking up with Megan from A Semi-Charmed Kind of Life for Travel Tuesday. You should too!

Austim Awareness

Whenever possible I like to use this blog for a greater good. I love featuring real women who are making a difference! One of those real women is one of my favorite bloggers, Aubrey from Dreaming About Someday. Aubrey took it upon herself to host the Blue Polish Swap for Autism Awareness. I loved her idea so much it inspired me to host the Go Green Accessories Swap for Mental Health Awareness! Autism is a cause I can definitely get behind and I'm kind of a nail polish junky so it was perfect!

I was partnered with Kaara from In the Kitch with Kaara. Through our few e-mails I could tell she was super sweet and very down to earth. All the more reason to go and check out her blog! Kaara was an awesome swap partner. She did her homework and figured out that I love Essie nail polish. She sent me Essie's Beach Bum Blue. I was super excited because I have no other colors even close to this!

I've been rocking my nail polish since I received it and will continue to do so in support of Autism Awareness.

Autism Facts:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that approximately 1 in 68 American children are on the autism spectrum. More specifically, it’s estimated that 1 in 42 boys, and 1 in 189 girls are diagnosed with autism in the US.

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder; 1,148% growth rate.

There's no laboratory or medical test for detecting autism, so doctors must rely on behavioral signs.

There is no known cure for autism, but intensive therapy helps a child learn a wide range of skills -from making eye contact to hugging to having a conversation. And the sooner a child begins, the better.

The cost of autism over the lifespan is 3.2 million dollars per person. Cost of lifelong care can be reduced by 2/3 with early diagnosis and intervention.
