The Hills Are Alive!

Did anyone watch it? I was so excited because I am a huge fan of the 60s movie version and Carrie Underwood is, like, my all time favorite! I grabbed some Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake on my way home and plopped myself in front of the TV for the entire three hours.

MY THOUGHTS:
  • This was the original stage version. I expected it to be different from the movie. Still loved it!
  • The audio was kind of weird. The instrumental was really loud. I would have loved to have heard the vocals better. There was also some background noise in quieter parts of scenes.
  • Stephen Moyer is such a gem! I never followed True Blood, but maybe I should have.
  • Why did they dress Carrie Underwood like a 1960s airline stewardess in the scene where she returns to the Von Trapp house?
  • How cute was the little girl that played Marta?! What a sweetie!

  • Carrie Underwood hit every note! Amazing singer. I don't want to get down on my girl, but her acting could use some work...
  • LOVE Christian Borle. He did a great job portraying Max Detweiler. I got to see him on Broadway in Legal Blonde and he rocked in that too. He's a pro.

  • My favorite scene/song was "Do-Re-Mi" Nailed it!

Nick and me in Salzburg, Austria in front of the gazebo used in The Sound of Music movie.  This is where Liesl and Rolf famously sang "Sixteen going on Seventeen." It's my favorite scene in the movie; therefore, I was freaking out inside. I am so blessed to be able to have experiences like this!

Have a great weekend! Xo, Ashley

  2. The Sound of Music is one of my ALL TIME faves, especially around Christmas time because I used to watch it every year when I was a child. I wasn't able to watch it on tv for many reasons and honestly, I didn't want to. There will never be another Julie Andrews (even as much as I like Carrie Underwood). I'm sure it was great but I just couldn't. I'm glad you liked it though!

  4. How lucky are you to get to see the gazebo in person?! Great pictures!!

I am so upset that I missed it, I'll have to see if I can find it online somewhere. I agree with you on Carrie Underwood. I LOVE her too, but her acting could use some work. Soul Surfer was pretty bad haha
