Celebrating Summer Television

After a long day in the sun I like to relax in the air conditioning taking in some summer television. Growing up I was always stuck with watching reruns of my favorite shows, but now networks offer brand new shows for the summer. Here's what I've been watching:

//1// The Astronauts Wives Club

This ABC show is inspired by Lily Koppel's best-selling book of the same name. The series tells the true story of the women who stood beside some of American history's biggest heroes, the men of Mercury 7, during the height of the space race in the 1960s.

I love this time period and love following the story of the space race through the eyes of the wives of astronauts such John Glenn and Alan Sheppard. It's not clear if this is going to be a regular series or an 10-episode mini series of sorts. My favorite character is the feisty Trudy Cooper played by Odette Annable.

Airs Thursdays @ 8pm EST on ABC.

//2// Mr. Robot

Mr. Robot follows a young computer programmer who suffers from social anxiety disorder and forms connections through hacking. He's recruited by a mysterious anarchist, who calls himself Mr. Robot (played by Christian Slater).

The first couple of episodes were outstanding, but it has turned dark. The reason I stick with it is because the actual story line is soooo good, even if it has been over shadowed in recent episodes.

USA, Wednesdays @ 10pm EST, be there.

//3// Chasing Life

Chasing Life, which premiered in 2014, follows 24-year-old April Carver after she is diagnosed with leukemia and the effects it has on the people around her. This show has both a winter and summer seasons. This season we follow April juggling a wedding and a new career on top of her ongoing battle with cancer.

I love watching April's love story with Leo. Hopefully her soft spot for ex Dominic doesn't put her relationship with Leo in jeopardy.

Watch it on Mondays on ABC Family at 9pm EST.

//4// Big Brother

Season 17 is here! Big Brother is the best reality show of the summer where 16 house guests move in and compete against each other to be the last house guest standing to win $500,000.

I've gotten sucked in to every single season. #BOB #TwinTwist #POV

Airs on CBS on Sundays and Wednesday at 8pm EST and on Thursdays at 9pm EST.
What are you watching this summer?

  7. I'm always late to catch on to shows so I don't really watch a ton of TV but I've heard really good things about The Astronaut Wives Club. Maybe I should catch up and watch the second season. This is only the first, right?

  9. Have been watching Chasing Life since the beginning. I really like it. I'm loving AWC but I read somewhere that this series has been on self since the 2013-2014 tv season, so I'm sad this might be all we get. I love ABC's period shows. I liked Pan Am too. LOL
